Full Moon Community Kitchen (Langar)
Annam Brahm. Food is God.
In this tradition, the act of feeding another person is the highest act in the realm of Karma. It is the act that gives birth to Dharma. The teaching is exact:
When you give food, you are giving God to the people. Giving a morsel of food benefits the conditioned soul not just in this lifetime, but for the next seven generations.
The community kitchen, the langar, is one of the most immediate expressions of that teaching. It is offered at the Ashram on each Full Moon: the time when spiritual energy is heightened and the act of giving is most auspicious.
Why it matters
The offering of food has held a sacred place in the Udasin tradition, and in Indian spiritual life, for centuries. At the Ashram, the kitchen is not only practical. It is devotional. Nourishment, humility, and community meet inside a single, simple act.
The langar is the Ashram's commitment to unconditional service, made visible. No one who comes here sincerely should leave without being fed: in the body, or in the spirit
Sponsor a Full Moon langar
Sponsor the offering of food on your birthday, an anniversary, a remembrance day, or any moment in your life that calls for sacred attention. Mark the occasion by extending the blessing of food to everyone who arrives that night.
Common occasions for sponsorship:
birthdays and anniversaries
Full Moon observances and holy days
remembrance days and personal prayers
offerings of gratitude or devotional intention
Help feed all who come
A single offering feeds many. By sponsoring a langar, you take part in one of the oldest and most powerful forms of devotional service: a teaching delivered not in words but in a shared meal.
